Watch strap

There is a wide variety of leather straps; let’s take a look at how each type differs.

Cowhide Straps

This is the most popular leather on the market. Due to the high volume of farming both domestically and internationally, it is easy to select high-quality leather. Cowhide is highly durable and becomes softer the longer it is used.

Japanese Cowhide Straps
Considered a premium grade leather, Japanese farming and tanning techniques result in high-quality straps with a subtle, pleasant scent unlike standard cowhide straps.
Horsehide Straps
Horsehide is smoother than other types of leather. Compared to cowhide, it is lighter and has similar or slightly better durability. Most importantly, its smooth and naturally glossy surface gives it a luxurious and appealing look.
Ostrich Leather Straps
Ostrich leather has similar durability to cowhide but features a unique texture, especially on the leg skin, which has scales resembling a dragon or, in fashion terms, polka dots. It also possesses good water resistance.
Camel Leather Straps
Camel leather is another type that is durable yet lightweight. The leather has distinct pores but a smooth surface that is not rough.

Crocodile Leather Straps

Crocodile leather is the number one most popular leather after cowhide, which is the standard material for leather goods. Because of its beautiful pattern and high durability, the surface becomes glossier over time, and the color may shift—darkening or lightening—which is the charm that makes crocodile leather so beloved. Crocodile leather commands a higher price if the skin is flawless; therefore, if you are looking for premium crocodile leather, you must choose hides from crocodiles raised individually.
