Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual “Dr. Strange” (Call Me By My Name)
Jaeger Lecoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Steel (Boutique edition) “Dr. Strange”

"Time will Tell how much I love you ~ Christine" is the inscription on the back of the JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual, the last keepsake of Dr. Stephen Strange, a brilliant surgeon whose career was cut short by a tragic accident. This watch reflects its wearer perfectly. Among the dozens of watches in this sorcerer’s collection, he chose this 39mm dress watch, which pairs impeccably with the suits he wears to events. While the watch in the film features a white gold case—which has a brighter luster than steel—Christine certainly had an eye for a great gift. One wonders if the fact that its Perpetual Calendar mechanism can track the date until the year 2100 is a nod to the mastery of time afforded by the Time Stone, held within the Eye of Agamotto that Dr. Strange guards.

Generally, timepieces with complications like a Perpetual Calendar are thicker than standard watches, but JLC has successfully developed these complex functions into one of the thinnest profiles in the world (the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak RD#2 from 2018 is only 2mm thick). The Calibre 868/1 movement measures 4.72mm in thickness, with a total case height of 9.2mm. The sub-dials display the Day, the Date (odd numbers), the Month (even months), and a Moon phases function, all with a 38-hour power reserve. By the year 2100, perhaps Dr. Stephen Strange will pay a visit to a JLC boutique as a time-traveling guest to update the calendar disc himself.
