Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Nonantième
Back in March 1931, in Paris, one of history's most iconic timepieces was born, featuring a design that could flip from front to back to protect the watch face during polo matches. This was the origin of the legendary Reverso, which continues to impress watch enthusiasts to this day. As this remarkable watch celebrates its 90th anniversary, JLC has launched the Reverso Tribute Nonantieme to commemorate its past and future achievements.
The impressive Art Deco beauty of the rectangular case is adorned with gadroons (the signature convex and concave grooves at the top and bottom of the case)—an indispensable feature of the Reverso—in a 49.4x29.9 mm size, gleaming in pink gold. The main dial, or front side, features a silvered argenté sunray-brushed dial, decorated with sword-shaped hour markers and polished Dauphine hands that showcase beautiful facets in pink gold.
At the 6 o'clock position, it is adorned with a Moon Phase indicator, displaying a brilliant golden moon with a remarkably realistic surface amidst a starry night sky. This sub-dial also houses the small seconds. Directly opposite, at the top, is a large double-window date display framed in pink gold, perfectly proportioned to the case.
The back, or the reverse side, creates a striking impression with its blend of pink gold, vibrant blue, and intricate details. A pink gold plate features tiered grooves reminiscent of the number 8 or an infinity symbol, indicating the hours via a semi-jumping digital disc.
The central circle in the sky section displays the sun and moon on a soleil-guilloché pattern, rotating to indicate day and night. Below this is a sunray-guilloché surface featuring a hand-crafted JL logo. At the very bottom is the minute track, with all time displays surrounded by a Liseret-guilloché pattern that complements the gadroons on the outermost edge.
Demonstrating true horological mastery, the watch maintains a slim profile of 11.72 mm despite housing the complex manual-winding Caliber 826, which consists of 230 parts, provides a 42-hour power reserve, and includes a quick-set date function. Even as a complicated watch, it remains water-resistant to 30 meters. The inner side of the pink gold case also features a beautiful, meticulously crafted sunray-guilloché pattern. This special timepiece is a limited edition of only 190 pieces—a perfect watch for a special moment and for the true watch connoisseur.
