Pixiu invites you to take a look at "Real VS Fake!!!" Omega Seamaster 007 No Time To Die
With the continuous growth of the second-hand watch market, there has been a rise in imitations or "fakes." What's more, they are becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish from the real thing. Today, I would like to introduce a simple verification method by comparing them to an authentic piece, using familiarity or a side-by-side comparison. For this, I will be using the Omega 007 No Time To Die as an example.
- Keep this golden rule in mind: the factor that sets genuine brands apart from fakes is always the finishing, which is the result of craftsmanship, time, and precise adherence to the world-class standards of watchmaking.
The best method is at the end, so if you want to know quickly, feel free to scroll down. It will save you from that headache-inducing realization later.
Starting with the edges and chamfers
The first fatal flaw that fakes will never replicate like the original, due to the high costs involved, is the finishing of the edges and corners. The chamfering must be sharp and precise, without blending into the case surface. If you observe the photos, notice the aesthetics of the crown and valve; the difference is clear.

The consistency of the chamfered edges and curves is in a different league.

When it comes to the "beveled" edges, authentic brands have smoother, more refined edges that are polished to stand out. Fakes skip this because it is too time-consuming and costly.
Bezel
This specific fake is quite neat in terms of its shade and laser-etched scale, but if you use light to examine the texture, you will see a difference at the outermost edge. Furthermore, if you look through a loupe, the paint application in the scale grooves is not as clean as the original.

Dial and hands
As seen in the photo above, the dial background colors differ clearly. The brushing on the hands is more delicate, not just sharply defined. The lume on the authentic piece is smooth like cosmetic powder, not flaky or granular. Areas that require a thicker application are often neglected on fakes.

The brushing on the hands is clear but lacks the delicate, smooth finish.

The lume surface looks dry and dusty, not smooth.
Case back
Assessing the sharpness of laser engraving and text for this pair is tricky. The fake is well-done, but it fails because Omega uses contrasting colors for the fonts, making it easier to compare. As for the 007 logo, any true fan will tell you the fake doesn't quite capture it.

Titanium mesh bracelet
Looking at the bracelet from above, this fake is quite impressive and hard to distinguish. However, you must examine the mesh construction; the joints at the bars and end links reveal the truth. Surface finishing, link shapes, and the end-link assembly are areas fakes tend to neglect, though these are often the points people overlook.

The end links are tidy and smooth, with uniform thickness. Each link surface is smooth, with no indentations or roughness, adhering to Swiss watchmaking standards.

Movement and caliber
If you look only at the brushing and the jewels, you might be fooled because this fake uses the correct purple-pink hue for its jewels, rather than the red commonly found in replicas. The movement code is also correct. However, remember the golden rule: the finishing is the deal-breaker. You will see obvious differences in cleanliness, residue, and the slotted screw heads. Not to mention that certain components present in the authentic movement are missing in the fake. The sheer precision of a Swiss watch is enough to raise red flags.

What do you think? This method is simple but requires a genuine piece for comparison or a very keen eye. Since that is often difficult in real life, having a watch opened and checked by professionals is the most popular method. Spending a little extra provides more peace of mind.
