The Origins of the ROGER DUBUIS Brand
Immerse yourself in the history of ROGER DUBUIS, one of the most highly regarded brands in the world of haute horlogerie. Its mechanisms and designs are born from the vision of master watchmaker Roger Dubuis, a former expert technician who specialized in complex "Grand Complication" movements at Patek Philippe.
Through his progressive vision and development, he became a "Master Watchmaker," which is why today’s ROGER DUBUIS timepieces feature unique, In-House movements that are 100% designed, developed, and manufactured within their own facilities. For this reason, they can proudly call themselves a Manufacturer.
Even though it cannot be compared in terms of longevity to other long-established brands, the 27-year history of the brand since 1995—which has seen it overcome obstacles and continuously evolve—has led every ROGER DUBUIS model to be recognized and guaranteed by the "Geneva Seal." This seal serves as another testament to excellence, propelling this brand onto a pedestal of honor that is widely recognized and proving that it is just as precious and distinctive as any other!
4 Charms of the Brand's Design Foundation
Hommage Chronograph
The Hommage chronograph clearly inherits its distinctive identity from the Patek Philippe 130, which served as inspiration for the designs of the master watchmaker Dubuis. After he deeply learned and absorbed the fine arts of horology, he launched his own brand according to his personal vision, elevating his craftsmanship and engraving a sense of history and alluring charm into the ROGER DUBUIS Hommage Chronograph H40 through the following elements:
- Guilloché decoration combined with the use of Breguet numerals.
- 40mm round dial that creates an optical illusion with its light-catching concave bezel.
- Slightly elongated lugs that allow for a beautiful fit on the wrist.
- Right-wing chronograph with pushers that facilitate functional operations at the 2 o'clock position.
- Sapphire crystal dial paired with a matching case back, both engraved with the RD logo.
- Caliber RD 56 movement, which is an In-House creation by ROGER DUBUIS.
Sympathie Chronograph
Providing a striking contrast to the Hommage Chronograph with its alluring cushion shape, the Sympathie line led ROGER DUBUIS into a new era of charm—a baroque yet avant-garde style. Reminiscent of a limited-edition Longines watch released in the 1950s, ROGER DUBUIS produced the Sympathie chronograph to celebrate the uniqueness of the Longines 846 model.
- Rectangular case with concave details for a deep, sophisticated look.
- Limited production, available only in white and rose gold in 34mm and 37mm sizes.
- Emphasis on the use of Breguet numerals.
Watch Movements
With In-House movements developed and designed by ROGER DUBUIS, the brand possesses a unique operational identity, ranging from the Caliber RD 56 used in standard models to the RD 65 in the Monopusher model at the 3 o'clock position, which originated from the Lemania ébauche 2310 movement.
Nevertheless, ROGER DUBUIS movements continue to evolve and integrate, featuring outstanding collections crafted by master horologists. For this reason, watches from this brand attract as much attention from collectors in the pre-owned luxury watch market as other leading brands.
Guaranteed by The Poinçon de Genève Standard

Due to its excellence in design, engineering, and movement development, the gentleman's watch brand ROGER DUBUIS has been certified with The Poinçon de Genève, or the Geneva Seal—a symbol of distinction and the beauty of sophisticated mechanical movements. Brands that earn this standard must meet criteria covering all 12 skills of a watchmaker, as follows:
- Craftsmanship of the movement components.
- Installation of synthetic rubies to prevent wear.
- Securing the hairspring in a stud with a circular head and shoulder.
- Installing the hands with collets, except for movements with extreme thinness.
- Permitted balance-wheel systems with variable radius rotations according to specifications.
- Wheels must be beveled and polished on the top and bottom; should not be 1.5mm or thinner, with polishing allowed for only one side of the bridge.
- Polished areas in the movement assembly.
- The gear train system must be light, not exceeding 0.16mm in thickness; for large movements, no more than 0.13mm; for movements thinner than 0.18mm, the locking surfaces must be polished.
- Ratchet wheels must be controlled by fixed stops to separate pins or studs.
- Moving parts must be equipped with functional shock-protection systems.
- Click springs and winding stems must be finished according to registered standards.
- Wire springs are not permitted.
