New Rolex Watches 2023

Finally, Rolex has officially released its new watches for 2023, now available for purchase. Pixiu Watch has compiled a summary below of which models have been released and what’s new or interesting about them.

Daytona

To mark the 60th anniversary of the King of Sport Watches, this iconic Rolex timepiece has undergone several refinements to enhance its beauty, as follows:

• A new dial: By adjusting the size of the hour markers and sub-dials, the color contrast between the dial background and the sub-dial rings is more pronounced, making the dial stand out more strikingly.
• A refined case: The side edges have been redesigned to catch the light more brilliantly.
• The ceramic or Cerachrom bezel is no longer purely ceramic; the outer edge now uses the same material as the case.

• A new movement: The new Calibre 4131 power source provides the same 72-hour power reserve as the Calibre 4130 but with fewer total components, meaning it is easier to maintain during servicing.

Daytona Highlight Model

Leading the new 2023 Rolex Daytona lineup is the elegant Platinum Ice-Blue. Beyond the features mentioned above, the Ice-Blue model comes with an exhibition case back, fully showcasing the refined new movement, including the newly skeletonized oscillating weight and the Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration on the bridges.

Perpetual 1908

This collection combines two significant elements of the brand: a design language inspired by the 1931 Oyster Perpetual reinterpreted for the modern era, and the year 1908, when Rolex was officially trademarked in Switzerland.

The Perpetual 1908 is a sleek, classic, yet truly contemporary timepiece. Its main features include a slim case that is three times thinner than that of the Oyster Perpetual, a domed fluted bezel, and a dial that Rolex defines as a "miniature work of art," which will be a key highlight of every Perpetual 1908 model from now on.

Similar to the Ice-Blue, the Perpetual 1908 features an exhibition case back to view the new automatic movement designed specifically for the 1908: the Calibre 7140, offering a 66-hour power reserve and utilizing the same hairspring, escapement, and shock absorber system as the Daytona. It launches in two versions: Yellow Gold and White Gold.

Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42

Honestly, seeing the Yacht-Master 42 for the first time in a luxurious black bezel on a titanium case, with that noble look of a yachtsman chilling in the Mediterranean, instantly brought to mind images of John Wick in his Kevlar suit. It's a real shame this watch didn't appear in the latest film; if it had, I’m certain the hype would have been more explosive than a volcanic eruption. Because of the original Yacht-Master's inherent luxury, many sport watch fans felt guilty about wearing it for rough, adventurous activities. But this new image is perfectly distinct: aggressive, durable, and lightweight thanks to the RLX titanium material, making it the second watch after the Deepsea Challenge to use this metal.

Though much tougher, it still retains its luxury. In addition to the elegant bezel, the entire watch features a satin finish accented by polished lines, and a large, clean, yet striking dial set against a black background. The 42mm case is designed to be slim rather than bulky and utilizes the well-known 70-hour automatic Cal. 3235 movement.

Sky-Dweller

Luxury combined with the utility of GMT and calendar systems—it's hard for anyone to refuse a watch that is both elegant and highly reliable in terms of both image and the data it displays.

In this new 2023 lineup, the Sky-Dweller leads with a White Gold model with a black dial and an Oysterflex bracelet, marking the first time this model has used this type of strap. This is followed by two other colorways: the White Rolesor with a Mint Green dial, and the truly stunning Everose Gold with a blue-green dial.

Each material option comes with other dial colors beyond the launch versions. In terms of the movement, they use the new automatic Calibre 9002, which still provides the same 72-hour power reserve as the Calibre 9001 but includes improvements to the escapement, shock absorbers, and oscillating weight, just like the other new movements.

GMT-Master II

Two new models have been launched: Yellow Gold and Yellow Rolesor, featuring Cerachrom bezels in a new grey and black color scheme. Both models come with all hands made from Yellow Gold. The Yellow Gold model is in the "Full Gold" style, while the Yellow Rolesor is the two-tone Yellow Rolesor / Steel combination.

Although only slightly adjusted, it has a significant impact on the overall look of the GMT-Master II. We can see that Rolex is increasingly building an identity for this model—making it easier to recognize and more premium, to the point where one must say that the GMT-Master II now stands alone with its own true personality.

Explorer

To live up to the concept of a "simple, durable, and easily readable" utility watch, the new Explorer comes in a 40mm Oyster case with polished sides. It remains easy to read in the dark thanks to the blue Chromalight luminescence that appears white during the day. The new model, under reference 224270, uses the 70-hour automatic Calibre 3230 movement.

Oyster Perpetual

From a classic, simple watch to something so hot that its price has soared into the stratosphere, Rolex has turned this classic piece into a work of art with multi-colored dials. It seems Rolex is using the Oyster Perpetual as a canvas once again to experiment with novelty, design, and a variety of colors. With bubble-themed graphics that incorporate all five colors from the 2020 dial launch—Candy Pink, Turquoise Blue, Yellow, Coral Red, and Green—it brings positive energy to life, to the point that one horological authority in our country posted on Facebook with the short caption, "Are you serious?" Whether that refers to the appealing colors or the crazy resale prices, no one really knows.

The highlight is the Turquoise Blue "Celebration" dial, available in all three sizes: 31, 36, and 41 mm. The smallest 31mm model uses the 55-hour automatic Calibre 2232, while the other two use the 70-hour automatic Calibre 3230.

The official price on the main website is only 200,000, but I've seen people posting prices several times higher—I don't know if they're joking or if it's real. At this point, I really want to ask Rolex fans, "Are you serious?"

Oyster Perpetual Day-Date

Closing with another classic legend, Rolex combines it with precious stones and brilliant diamonds to prove that their design and jewelry craftsmanship are second to none. This comes in 3 models and 3 styles: Everose Gold, White Gold, and Yellow Gold.

Each model uses a dial made from different minerals:

Everose Gold with a sparkling green aventurine dial, White Gold with a turquoise dial showcasing natural mineral patterns, and Yellow Gold with an orange carnelian mineral dial.

All three are decorated with brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel, hour markers, and the VI and IX markers. Or, if you want to customize, you can check it out on their website.
